A tech cleanse is a period that you go without using any of your devices or tech. While this is commonly carried out with children and teenagers (known as a ‘disconnect’), the same benefits can be gained by parents and older people. A tech cleanse may sound impossible since we’re used to our phones and the internet, but it’s definitely doable with these four tips.

Lay Out Strict Exceptions

If possible, the only exception to when you can use your smartphone and other daily tech is during an emergency. Otherwise, it’s best to refrain from using the phone, tablet, computer, TV, and anything related. Using tech for cooking and cleaning is okay as long as they’re only used for that matter. Tech cleanses can be one day or a whole week depending on what you want to achieve.

Plan Offline Activities

At least a day before the scheduled tech cleanse, map out your activities for the day. It could be walking around a nearby park, cooking, or some DIY projects, or maybe decluttering the whole house or a room. The idea behind this is so you won’t be bored and break your promise not to use technology and devices for the day.

Not Just a One-Time Thing

Tech addiction is real, and most of the time individuals do not realize it or deny that they’re afflicted with the condition. Freeing up time to do other things makes you a well-rounded person who doesn’t overly rely on technology. If you want to experience the benefits of tech cleansing then you should do this at least once a month or more.

Meditate and Calm the Mind

Meditation and self-awareness go great with tech cleanses. Calming the mind has its own benefits, including improved mental health, focus, and wellness. This can help if you’re looking to get better at online games, like poker.
