Fairies are magical creatures of love, light, and joy, and June 24, 2022, is the day to celebrate them worldwide. International Fairy Day is a day to let your child — and inner child — roam free and explore the imagination.

The founders of luxury, immersive, children’s photography studio Enchanted Fairies have always been big fans of the tiny woodland sprites. That’s why they founded a studio business that creates magical family art portraits and books in which you can delight in seeing your little loved ones dressed as beautiful creatures and create memories that last a lifetime.

International Fairy Day falls annually during Midsummer week, a week of celebrations around the world related to the Summer Solstice, or the longest day of the year.

You might be asking yourself, ‘What’s the connection between Midsummer and fairies? Good question. Fairies are often associated with the solstice because it is believed that the land of eternal youth, where fairies make their homes, called Tír na nÓg, is visible for a short time. That means that, according to legend, it’s possible to catch sight of fairies.

They love to fly and play at dawn and dusk. So, if you, or your little ones, have sharp eyes, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the woodland nymphs.

About Enchanted Fairies

Enchanted Fairies is the place to go if you love fairies. These family art studios have locations in eight cities around the country, creating stunning photos and bespoke books featuring your child. The studios are located in: Plano, Tx., Houston, Tx., San Antonio, Tx., Stewartstown, Pa., Madison, Wi., Aurora, Ill., Hudson Valley, NY, and Bremerton, Wa.

The luxury, immersive children’s photography studio was founded “to create magical experiences for your children,” said co-founder Aileen Avikova. She calls it an artistic and ideal way to preserve childhood innocence.

In addition to making families feel good, Avikova is also dedicated to doing good. Her business model is charity-driven, and Enchanted Fairies has already donated over $1 million to children’s charities across the country. So, while making memories with your kids, you can feel great that the company is helping other children with their proceeds.

“There are photography studios, and there’s Enchanted Fairies, and when you come here, it’s a magical world that’s totally different,” said Avikova, who immigrated to the US from Mexico and spent a period homeless before finding success with her stunning photographs.

Since fairies are innocent creatures, the co-founder suggests celebrating their special day by taking part in some simple, outdoorsy, and wholesome activities to mark the occasion.

Here are a few ways that Enchanted Fairies suggests that you celebrate International Fairy Day.

Eat a Fairy Treat

Australian parents make a special treat for their innocent and sweet children — fairy bread. Beloved across the country, this bread is a treat often requested by Aussie kids, and the snack is simple to make.

Make a slice of buttered white toast and add lots of sprinkles to the top. With their subtly sweet flavor and colorful appearance, sprinkles are a favorite food of fairies and children.

Go Fairy Spotting

Fairies like to prance and preen at dusk and dawn, so these are when your little ones can have a great time searching for them. They are especially likely to appear near water, such as beside a stream or river, where they can refresh themselves and splash around.

They also might appear after a rainstorm, when the hazy atmosphere lets them feel protected from being seen by humans. Keep your eyes trained on places like big, green, lush leaves, mossy rock walls, and tree roots and branches — these are among their favorite places to sit and observe the world.

Not sure if you’ve just seen a fairy? There’s an easy way to tell. Just before or after a fairy spotting, people often report seeing tiny flickers of light or even very soft and ethereal music.

Dress Up Like a Fairy

There’s nothing better to put you in a fairy-spotting mood than dressing up like a magical sprite yourself. So find a flowing dress or cape in icy blue, bright pink, or lavender, and finish the look with wings, a crown, and maybe even a scepter.

And while we’re speaking of crowns. Diamonds and rhinestones are all well and good, but the truest fairies don flower crowns. So buy a ready-made one, or spend some time on a blanket in the sunshine making your crown.

We hope these ideas help you make the most of your International Fairy Day!
