The importance of SEO is nothing to be discussed these days. In other words, in order to survive in the current online market, all websites should practice SEO standards and do their best to improve their SEO performance as going forward. To do so, there are a number of measuring factors to be used for monitoring SEO performance. One of the very precise measuring factors is the traffic cost. In this article, we will guide you to not be misled on your website SEO performance by being provided with irrelevant data and in contrast, how a precise measuring element like traffic cost is capable of providing right information on where your SEO campaign is and how it is performing.

SEO performance

In general, SEO performance refers to how a website with a proper SEO campaign is performing, after a reasonable period of time. It’s about using a number of factors to see if the SEO project is moving on track or if some corrective action is required in order to get it back on track.

  • The number of keywords your website is performing well on, can be an indicator for how your SEO is performing. However, many of those keywords might be irrelevant to your business and don’t add any value to your business.
  • Being listed on the main search engine result page for your strategic keywords can also be a good indicator for the SEO performance, however if it is listed on the second or third page, it would almost be worthless.
  • Click Through Rate is another factor for your website SEO performance, though it can’t be reliable, as it doesn’t show how long users stay on your website.
  • Conversion Rate is a good indicator on how your SEO is performing, though it is not what we want to talk about through this article.

There are some other SEO measuring elements out there. However, we intend to talk about one of the most valuable measuring factors and how to use it properly in order to monitor our SEO performance.

Traffic Cost Indicator

Traffic cost, in general, is the monthly cost of Google Ads for keywords that a website is ranking for. As an example, assume that one of your strategic keywords is “Web Design Company in Dubai”. Once you start your SEO campaign on your keyword, this specific keyword for your specific website does not have any value, as Google wouldn’t pop your company name up, once such keyword is searched by users. By improving your SEO performance, after a while, your website starts to show up on Google search results and your website will slowly get some traffic. This means that you are creating value for your website on your keyword. After six months, assume that you get 30 clicks per day and say 1 call-to-action from users. Such stats have a value. To estimate the dollar value of such stats, there is a reputable website called Semrush that estimates the dollar value of your keyword. The calculation is based on how much Google would charge for an Ad for this keyword with such stats. In other words, how much you have to pay for a Google Ad to receive such traffic on your specific keyword. Again, assume that the cost is estimated to be US$ 1,000 per month. It means that your SEO campaign created a value of US$ 1,000 for you, as you should have paid the same amount of money to Google for getting to such a position, where you are at now.

How Traffic cost shows SEO performance

Semrush considers some important elements to calculate the traffic cost of your keyword for your website. CRT or Click-Through-Rate, bounce rate and some other factors are the elements by which they do their calculation. Such calculations can be very reliable to see how your SEO campaign has been progressing. You may check the traffic cost of your strategic keyword for your website on a reasonable time frame and as long as it’s trending up, your SEO is performing well. Obviously, if not much value is created after a while, or if your traffic cost decreases as you go forward, it means there are some problems with your SEO performance and corrective action should be considered as soon as possible.

Always keep an eye on your SEO progress

SEO is not an easy task. It costs you time and money. That’s why it’s crucial to monitor how your SEO campaign is progressing and make sure it is on the right track of adding value to your business. As outlined above, traffic cost indicator can be a very informative and precise indicator for you to see how you are performing in terms of SEO. Therefore, make sure that you have a proper SEO plan in place, stick to the plan persistently and finally monitor it from time to time to make sure that everything is progressing well. To be more helpful for business owners who don’t have enough time to get a professional SEO plan together and more importantly can’t monitor it in a timely manner, we would recommend having a free consultation meeting with Websima DMCC. They are one of the best web design and digital marketing service providers in Dubai, with more than a decade of successful experience in the market. They are capable of providing you with a professional SEO plan and help you to accomplish and monitor it properly. In case you have your SEO plan already, you may ask for their professional service to check how your SEO plan is progressing.
