According to the Massachusetts Male Aging Study on Sexual Dysfunction, erectile dysfunction can be found in a man as early as 40. Based on the National Institute of Health, approximately 30 million men suffer from it. If it is left untreated, sexual intercourse can’t reach its climax. Therefore, if you have issues with obtaining or keeping an erection, it is highly recommended to get erectile dysfunction treatments Australia or even better take some preventive measures to avoid it. Here are several ways you can do to mitigate it.

1. Be more active

It is time for you to stop spending your free time laying down on the bed or scrolling down your phone screen and start to be more engaged in physical activity. Physical activity effectively improves blood circulation throughout the body, including the penis, so that it can erect. If you initially live an inactive lifestyle, you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself by immediately doing high-intensity exercises, because it may negatively impact your heart rate. You can naturally start slow with simple activities such as walking at a regular pace or doing household chores. As time goes by, you can gradually proceed with the more challenging ones, such as swimming or running. It’s advised to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day.

2. Consume healthy foods

Being more active physically is not enough, as it is also important to have good nutrition. Maintaining a healthy balanced diet will help you to achieve your ideal body weight and control your blood pressure and lessen the possibility of suffering diabetes. Hypertension and diabetes can lead to ED, therefore it is essential to consume foods that are low in fat, specifically saturated fat and sodium. It is recommended to eat whole grains, low-fat dairy products, fruits and vegetables, and lean meats, as they can bring advantages to male sexual function.

3. Limit your alcohol consumption

Drinking too much alcohol doesn’t only destroy your health, but also potentially causes ED. Therefore, it is important to consume less of it or even quit it. If you find it difficult, you should seek a professional who is specialized in treating heavy drinkers.

4. Stop smoking

Whether you are a light, moderate, or heavy smoker, smoking can contribute to negative effects on your health. Tobacco smoking has always been associated with cardiovascular disease, which can also result in developing ED. Therefore, if you don’t want ED to disrupt your sexual pleasure, you need to quit smoking.

5. Do not consume illegal drugs

Illegal drug consumption will bring a negative impact on men’s sexual health and makes it harder to achieve an erection. It can deter your sexual desire and make you struggle harder with being sexually aroused. Consult with your doctor if you think you are addicted to drugs, so you can receive the right treatment before your condition gets worse.

Finally, the most significant approach to prevent erectile dysfunction is to maintain a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. ED can be reversed with healthy lifestyle choices, as well as therapy and medication.
